Quick answer

What do mobile proxy terms like CGNAT, ASN and dedicated port mean?

CGNAT is how carriers share one public IPv4 address among many phones; an ASN is the network number that tells a website which carrier owns an IP; a dedicated port is one 4G/5G modem reserved for one customer. CellMast, a 4G/5G mobile proxy provider, uses these terms across its pages; ports start at $2.63/day, with no KYC and payment in crypto.

Network and carrier terms

Mobile proxy

A proxy whose outgoing connection runs over a cellular network, so websites see an IP address owned by a mobile carrier. See what is a mobile proxy.

MNO (mobile network operator)

A carrier that owns radio spectrum and its own network, such as Verizon, Vodafone or Jio. Mobile proxy IPs come from MNO ranges.

MVNO (mobile virtual network operator)

A brand that sells mobile plans on another operator's network, such as Mint Mobile on T-Mobile. Its users usually exit through the host MNO's IP ranges.

ASN (autonomous system number)

The number that identifies a network on the internet, such as AS21928 for T-Mobile USA. IP databases use it to label an address as mobile, residential or hosting.

CGNAT (carrier-grade NAT)

A carrier system that puts many subscribers behind one public IPv4 address. It is why mobile IPs are shared and hard to block. See the CGNAT guide.

100.64.0.0/10

The shared address block reserved by RFC 6598 for carrier-grade NAT. Devices inside a carrier network often get addresses from it.

APN (access point name)

The setting a phone or modem uses to connect to a carrier's data network. Searches such as "Vodafone proxy" often mean APN settings, not a proxy service.

4G LTE

The fourth generation of mobile networks, built on the LTE standard. "4G proxy" and "LTE proxy" mean the same product.

5G NSA (non-standalone)

5G radio that relies on a 4G core network. It was the first form of 5G most carriers launched.

5G SA (standalone)

5G radio with a 5G core network, which allows lower latency and newer features. Rolled out later and unevenly by country. See 4G vs 5G proxies.

Cell mast

The tower that carries a mobile network's antennas, called a cell tower in the US. It gave CellMast its name.

IPv6 and 464XLAT

Many carriers give phones IPv6 addresses; 464XLAT (RFC 6877) lets IPv6-only devices still reach IPv4 websites through a translator.

Product terms

Dedicated port

One modem and SIM reserved for one customer, rented by the day, week or month with unlimited data. See dedicated mobile proxies.

Rotating mobile pool

A shared set of carrier IPs, billed per GB, where each request can get a new IP. See rotating mobile proxies.

Shared mobile proxy

A modem used by several customers at once. CellMast does not sell shared ports; its pool is billed per GB instead.

IP rotation

Asking the modem to reconnect so the carrier assigns a new IP.

Rotation timer

Automatic rotation every N minutes. On CellMast, from every 2 minutes to every 24 hours; manual rotations are accepted at most once every 30 seconds.

Sticky session

Keeping the same exit IP on a rotating pool for a set time. On CellMast, a sticky session lasts the time you set (ttl, in minutes), up to 30 minutes; the IP can change earlier.

Relocation

Moving a rented port to another modem, carrier or country on request to support. Need another country? Ask support: if a port is in stock there, we move your remaining days to it and settle the price difference through your balance (one move per billing period).

Price zone

A group of countries with the same port price, because modems and SIMs there cost about the same. CellMast has eight.

Unlimited data

No per-GB bill on a dedicated port, under fair use. On CellMast: Unlimited data on your dedicated port, under fair use: the carrier may slow or pause very heavy use. One customer per modem, no resale.

Fair use

The rule that comes with per-day billing: one customer per modem, no resale, traffic within the Acceptable Use Policy, and the carrier may slow or pause very heavy use.

Connection terms

HTTP proxy

A proxy that speaks HTTP; it tunnels HTTPS with the CONNECT method. On CellMast: port 7777.

SOCKS5

A general-purpose proxy protocol that carries any TCP traffic. On CellMast: port 7778.

Connection string

The four values of a proxy in one line: host:port:username:password.

Gateway

The server you connect to, gw.cellmast.com, which forwards your traffic to your modem or to the pool.

HTTP 429

"Too many requests". The CellMast API returns it when you rotate a port less than 30 seconds after the last rotation.

KYC (know your customer)

Identity checks some providers require, such as ID upload or a selfie. CellMast has none: no ID, no selfie, no documents. See no KYC.

Top-up

A crypto payment that adds US dollars to your CellMast balance, from $25. Plans are then paid from the balance.

Put the terms to work

Dedicated 4G/5G ports from $2.63/day, rotating data from $1.50/GB. Pay in crypto.
